I am looking for climbing spurs for my partner for Christmas, I am not clued up on the lingo and havent a clue what sizes he would be really, I dont want to ask him to many questions because I want it to be a suprise. I am wondering what is the difference between carbon fibre and aliminium geckos and are velcro or leather straps better? This would be his first pair of spurs but he has used ones on his college course provided by the college. Any advice would help. Thanks

Carbon gekos are lighter and cooler looking, aluminium gekos are more hard wearing, relatively light and still look cool. I think as a gift you'd be better off with the aluminium as their adjustable in size where as the carbons arnt. I personally prefer Velcro top and bottoms but many prefer buckles on the bottom. I'd say get buckles on the bottom as that's what he'll be used to using in collage! :)

Mine have been awesome for 5 years, but the bottom velcro straps are past their best.

Can I replace them with leather ones, and who sells them?

I don't mind replacing with velcro again if necessary, but I'm having trouble finding anything.

Any help appreciated.

Hi

We can get them they are £33.00 + VAT.

You can't swap then for the leathers as they have a different fitting.
