If your flipline is at full extension then what? Send the guy back to the truck for the bolt croppers?

If you use a hitch & a pulley then you need a cuttable link for the same reason. If you cut the hitch then the pulley will run to the end of the line & remain captive.

I use micro pulley and hitch on flip line, and my gri gri on lanyard, or micro pulley and VT hitch.

Pulley and hitch here, 5m flipline, 3 just won't do it. Plus with a 5, it's likely in a rescue there will be enough length to release without having to cut stuff to get me out. Touch wood. If you have one of the single eye fliplines, it gets around the problem of having a cutaway when using a flipline with a hitch, as the other end should still come through the pulley, depending on brand.

You mean you don't carry a rescue spanner?

To be honest I use a petzl micro grab without a cuttable link. I tried the wee dyneema sling, but it was horrid. Without it it's beautiful. Obviously it's a good idea, but, I think I'm prepared to take the risk.

i use a knut with short cord or extra wraps one an e2e and have the flip line fed through the carabina for tending... works ok
