This is what I do, others will do it differently.

Keep nipping out any new side shoots. Mist your flowers to help pollination. When the fruit has set get the tomorite into them. Keep watering. Start removing the lower leaves up to the first truss as these are no longer required. When the truss is finished cropping remove and work up to the next truss.

If you are looking to extending the crop you can lower all the plants from there supports lay them on the ground and let the tip grow upwards again as a new tip will quickly emerge.( once you have cropped all the fruits). Depending on the weather you might get more red ones or else alot of green tomatoes for chutney etc.

Keep the area free from fallen leaves, flower petals etc. to limit any disease.

Hope that is what you were asking.

The amount of trusses just depends on how high you are growing them.

If you were growing them to 6 ft and they were in a row. when you carefully lower the plants the new plants would then grow up the support 6ft along the row. No need for new supports.

If you can white polythene on the floor helps reflect light up into the fruit aiding ripening as well as spotting any nasties crawling around (good for hygiene purposes). At the end of the season decreasing light levels is the main limiting factor so if you have put coolglass or shading on, remove to maximise light getting to the crop.

Banana skins and comfrey leaves are all well and good round the base. I prefer a cleaner environment and using liquid feeds. Never overdosing though as that is like drinking to much whisky.

Tomorite has always worked for me. I have used other pro formulations and tried the old wives tales. Tomorite is better balanced IME.

Glad I am some use.

Planted 100cwt seed desire potatoes ,dug some up last week not quite big enough yet but they were lovely anyway. Hopefully they will be soon can't beat new potatoes

Had same thing about 10 days ago. Soil was very dry. been watering heavily, tonight lots of tats and alot bigger. I think I was worried about over watering after the last few years of wash out. With the sun out I have decided to get the water down on them.

Got six different tomatoes on the go. Aint grown any for a few years, I know you need to nip out the side shoots until you get to four or five trusses then nip out the tops.

What happens after that.....do you let them do their own thing to produce more trusses or do I need to keep clipping anything?

They will try and throw out loads of shoots once the tops have been nipped out. You just need to keep on top of the re-growth. Once you get to the end of August, you will need you remove all the leaves, as this will aid the ripening of the remaining fruit.
