Sap on the move

Crown lifting a sycamore today for the council, every cut I did sap was pouring out, surely it's way to early for sap movement. I was wondering if anyone else as come across any movement anywhere else in the country?

some hazel has catkins on. so sap must be rising bit early. what do the trees know we do not. are they making seeds early before it becomes dry. and do not germinate

Had the same on a couple of maples last week.

lifted a syccy last week in Macclesfield and has frozen sap icicles on it this week

I was just talking about this to someone today. The sap is arising.

Poplar, Cherry and Syc all gor buds on up here on the Lancashire Moss.

Felled a Pop yesterday and the sap was running like a tap. Not good as I was always taught that if the saps up the saws go down, but we haven't really had much of a closed season.
