Sailing close to the wind with that combination, you're luck might run out, maybe finish the week in AnE having your stomach pumped.

Nonesense. Ibuprofen and paracetamol in combination is perfectly safe. It has been recommended to me by my GP for dealing with arthritic pain in my hips, the "Double Bubble" I call it.

Medically proven that the combo is more effective than either drug taken solo.

However, the important thing to remember is that it is easy to overdose on paracetamol which does bad things to your liver and can lead to death. Other potential unwanted side effects inculde dyspepsia; gastrointestinal blood loss and diarrhoea.

Avoid taking any other medications that contain paracetamol and limit daily combination dose to 1200 mg Ibuprofen & 3000 mg Paracetamol. Thats 2 tabs of each three times a day.

P.S. Though I might be a surgeon, I am not a qualified medical professional. :nurse::blush::thumbup:

Quick update, spent the night trying to dig a hole in my nail with a pair of scissors (didn't want to wake anyone up finding a needle), didn't sleep for the throbbing pain, popped in to drs this am, drilled a little hole in nail to relieve the pressure, wife picking up the cocodamol. might aim for sleep v soon.....

Nothing wrong with taking them both together - standard issue anti-inflammatory/painkiller combo. Unless you're an infant...

Can I take paracetamol and ibuprofen together? - Health questions - NHS Choices

I've had the throbbing in the night.

I remember one occasion, I ended up naked in the garage, in the middle of the night heating a needle with with the oxy/gas torch, the relief when the blood spurts is almost orgasmic.

Gnarlyoak, You might want to look into longterm usage of Ibuprofen. I'm no expert here by any means but my consultant told me that they believe there is a link between long term use and a weakening of bones. I have been advised against using it.

I had lots of wear in my hips and a bit of Arthritis and had this done on Wednesday (see below), I was told once again to steer clear of long term use of it after my opp. I don't know if there is indeed a link but I'm forty and have been popping Ibuprofen like they have been going out of fashion for the past 5 years.
