A few inches of snow...

In that snow of 1981, I made a snow hole in a drift and slept in it! It was great. I had an old army down sleeping bag, and some old carpet to lie on. Perfect!

Nowadays its all goretex and fleece and thats just for going to the pub!

I spent three months in Alaska, one night of camping at -25c and soon realised your better off in snow holes than in a tent!

Having spent a night on Cairngorm in a snow hole at -20c I agree Rupe lol very snuggley lol

Maybe not , but would it harm them if you did? do children these days not need to appreciate the simpler things in life [i'm talking about my kids too], imo if you can't/don't appreciate the simple things you'll never appreciate the finer things life has to offer..

I totally agree mate!!!:001_smile:

Unfortunately its not possible to "artificially" create these experiences, real shame, as I also feel they build character and allow a real appreciation of the comforts we enjoy.

There was just a wee dusting when i left Cannock this morning, 3-4" when i got back at 6" at home up on the Chase. -1 in my kitchen when i got home lol

No drama's here everyone just getting on with it.

Like Stu said you just drive slower, it's just the pussy wupped SE that's always falls apart when we have some real weather. I'm qualified to say that having lived there for 30 years lol !!

I think alot of people just use it as a cop out not to go to work to be honest. It's the elderley that i feel sorry for as this type of weather just makes life even harder for them. Those that care for them can't get out / won't go out etc.

We really do have a defeatist attitude in this country these days.
