Ok here goes, remove the back bearing and housing ( you need a good puller ) then set the shaft in a large vice and clamp against the flats you see on the shaft. you the need to turn the rotor anti-clockwise to undo ( you will need to weld 2 bars to an 8' tube to slot into the blade pockets to get enough leverage ). When you have done this the rotor nose can then pushed out on a large press ( we use 20 ton and this can be border-line sometimes ) with this out you can then clean the rotor and shaft, press in the new nose,screw the shaft back on tight , then fit your fans and blades back on and then re-balance the rotor ( This is very important, failure to balance will knock bearings out in a very short time ). Once balanced the rotor can be shimmed up and re-fitted to rotor housing, if you have done this all correctly the rotor should spin freely and when under power try resting a 50p on it's edge on the top of the rotor hosing and see if it stays !!!!

If you need any help bring it into one of our depots or give us a ring on the phone to discuss it further. We get quite a few guys buying the "bits" to renew the rotor bearings of older machines, Guys who have "friends" who have "done it before" and after about a month, the bearings collapse which can cause scoring within the rotor itself. The rotor then needs to be replaced and ends up costing more than it should.

 

Would you take your Lamborghini to be serviced by the back street guy who is an expert in Skodas??

i was one of them boys that tried to save a few quid

after 2 goes i gave in

took it to your boys at tadcaster already stripped down and they did a fantastic job quite reasonably. I would go straight there next time

Is this because the bearings are made from chocolate or plasticene? 'Good' industrial bearings should last 5000 hours if looked after.

I mean, we're not talking about a lamborghini here, which has thousands of precision parts costing £200k+ and producing 600hp. we are talking about an extremely simple piece of agricultural machinery utilising a 35hp industrial engine.

 

Does it need such special treatment as a result of built in obselesence?
