Thanks guys, good advice. had new head gasket and skim 10000miles ago if that changes anything?

You'll get another 15000 miles out of it before it goes again if your lucky, if it only needs to serve you short term it would be ok at the right money, depends if you need to spend much in it for MOT.

On the Landy trials I go to the trophies are usually made out of k-series cylinder head bolts welded together, guess there's a lot of them about . Watch out for ird unit, they go and a lot got converted to 2wd as its cheaper than replacing the unit. On a plus note the front wings will never rust because they are plastic.

Still fancy it Muttley after all these positive reviews?...

Oh yes,im currently ploughing my way through the snow to make sure its mine, problem is its about 30 miles away and im not sure it will get me home.

But on a serious note im just in comms with me dad to decide if we should put it in his barn and do up to sell?

Thanks Peeps

we have skimmed at least 10 k-series engines over the years, the skim does not cure the problems, plus you need to grind the valves and other tricks.

like i said, don't buy trouble - just offer a fifty, and be happy with the tyres :)

My mates garage had an mgf in yesterday with a misfire, k-series engine, mayonnaise in dipstick tube. If the head gasket goes that easy in a light two seater.. What will happen if you put the same engine in a 5 seater 4x4 and ask it to pull a trailer? ..with no low range gears for manoeuvring. Just saying:biggrin:
