Suzuki Jimny towing chipper rough ground

Well I have used mine in some fairly tough situations,they are a very versatile little car,& thats what they are after all.

Mine has upset a good few 4x4s both in its ability to get to them,& then to recover them,but a landy is going to out way & out pull a jimny.

Back on track,it will do it,but you will work it hard if on an every day basis in anything but rough grass,it will not tow a tw150 on muddy & churned up ground for a living.

Superb & bombproof little motors that they are,I should know,we have 5 of them in the family!

 

Basically, it will not be too rough ground. In a nutshell would a Jimny be able to tow a chipper where a 4x4 quad could. I know that a quad is more manoverable, but could a Jimny towing a chipper get though the types of terrain a 4x4 quad towing a chipper could?

Also how many mile are they good for 100k+ ?

Easily good for 100k, as long as you keep it regularly maintained. Bomb proof little motors !

We used to tow our TW 190 off road with our little Mitzy Pinin. It worked really well. You wouldn't want to go proper mud plugging with it but fine across fields and tracks the transit wouldn't go.

Clutches, gearboxes, head gaskets etc?

That pretty much what I wanted to hear.

I have a Cabstar and it hates anything other Tarmac. I have been hiring a quad, and did look to buy one, but you can get a decent jimny for the price of an abused honda/yamaha quad!

 

Are the 1.3 petrol jimny s quite good on fuel compared to a Cabstar diesel?

Not that the Cabstar is thirsy but if the jimny s are quite frugal it would be handy to go and do quotes in as well as towing the chipper about on chip on side jobs.

I wouldn't exactly say there brilliant on fuel, recon mine does around 30 to the galon on a good day and as for things that go wrong, that I know of there is just the kingpin bearings that cause a problem but its cheap and easy to fix

If buying one make sure you check the chassis as well as they can be susceptible to rot if not looked after

Much better than the quad on bad terain,& they are very reliable,treat it gently & you can get near 40mpg,but used harder about 30mpg.

i believe you can get nylon ones now which will take to having dirt grind in them. only know as a 4x4 diehard gave me the info as my nissan will need new ones sometime. and sugested putting them on. what i heard about these little beasts will go for a hunt for one be ideal for doing small jobs instead of using nissan. and daughter can drive it as small but 4x4

God I wish I had a Jimny right now.

I could sling tools in the back, tow the chipper to the job and they're a whole lot cheaper than a Hi-Lux etc!
