Im not sure as its only the people with 7.5t that have to do it and its a council so im guessing if it was 3.5t everyone would be on it!! Its not very clear, even the bloke that came doen said that even they dont know?

after 2014 if you wish to drive a comercial truck 7.5tonnes or over you need to do a CPC. if you are pulled over after that date without this then they can throw the book at you.

you can do it as a three day course. then a refresher believe every 3 years. it has made my job a bit of a pain as if i want to hire a truck to do a job can not.

so will have to include lorry and operator into costs

I was told that if you have a grandad licence then you can still drive the 7.5ton without the CPC but any additional licences that you have gained are worth nowt if you haven't done it.

You can do it all in one sitting or spaced out but has to be done before Sept 14. Advise is to get it done sooner rather than later because courses will become booked up the later you leave it. After 2014 you've got 5 years to do it again which obviously equates to 1 day a year which isn't much really.

This is just what I've been told from a mate who is currently doing it so sorry if any of the information isn't quite correct.

After sept 2014 you have got have completed 35 hrs of training. The training is done in 7 hr classes, there are 5 catagories within the driver cpc training ( 5x7 = 35 ) although you can do 5 lots of the same catagory. This training is for any driver that drives commercially ( there are exemptions). This is for 7.5t upwards. The cost of the training is approx £80 per session. The cpc then lasts for 5 years.
