Cable bracing.... when's the best time?

Full leaf or no leaf???

 

I would have thought without leaf otherwise you will tension it up with the limbs while there weighted soon as they lose the leafs not weighted the bracing will be sagging.

I've done both previously. Surely though, if there's a requirement for bracing the answer would be as soon as possible? Just allow enough slack for when in leaf. A quick scan of BS3998:2010 doesn't specify a particular period for installation.

i'd go the opposite. Bracing shouldnt be taut, if you do it out of leaf it will be taught when in leaf.

 

totaly agree with steve here:thumbup1:

 

trees MUST be allowed to move freely to continue adapting to loads according to the axiom of uniform stress, to much restriction sets up false loads and un balanced adaptions, causing more issues than cabling should solve.

 

exceptions to this are rod bracings of included bark unions where tightnes as with rubs on branches is the desired outcome.
