I pass it the second Tuesday of each month at the moment. Can I ask why when the leaves have gone? And yes, I will be getting monthly shots

I believe it is a lapsed pollard. And had some reduction in the past, elder removed from the pollard head this last year and bats roosting under dead bark, apparently. I may jump up and have a look next time

Bit of deadwood in lower branches. Few woodpecker holes. Not in the greatest of states. Been advised to keep tabs on dead branches. Interested in getting some sort of technical report on the interior condition.

Im going to suggest Phaeolus, the colour is all wrong but can tell this is mostly daylight settings within the cameras IA mode

Thanks Tony, that's what i first thought but looked in Keizer and Jordan and it didn't seem right. will venture out tomorrow with my big cam and get some better pic's. Quite a few fung starting to show so may make an aftrnoon of it

Phaeolous can be a very variable bracket fungi, ive seen it in so manty forms its a wierd fungus:thumbup1:

First time I've seen that term, if it means what I think then I get to see plenty of these , say cut at 5 metres and now 12 metres and growing vigorously. The lever arm worries me.

 

Since reading this thread I realise how poor my fungal fruiting body recognition is so here's a picture from a couple of weeks back. Host is a lombardy poplar with signs of stress and reaction. I thought rigidoporous ulmaria?? Also a previously pollarded tree.

 

Sorry for poor angle but it was hidden in a bramble.
