Anyone got any idea what these are likely to be.  Spotted high in the crown of an oak tree.  Sorry about the lack of picture detail!

Desiccated Fistulina is my guess

Phaeolus schweinitzii on a Black Pine stump.  The tree - ~70' to the 12" topping cut - was taken down around four years ago due to the infection and now the stump is a standing feast for little critturs.

Just looking for help with ID. I can only think this is Inonotus cuticularis, initially thought it might be Ganoderma lucidum  but too velvety a top and distinctly stalkless. On a beech stump felled a few years ago due to Meripilus. If it is Inonotus cuticularis it's only the second time I've seen it in Sheffield in 5 years. Poor picture quality. Underside was creamy white pores (thought I took a pic).

 

On a sidenote, is there anywhere left in the UK where Mycology can be studied as a principal subject e.g a degree?

I don't think these are I. cuticularis, have a look at Ischnoderma resinosum.

Whilst reserving our Christmas Tree this week, we came across these. I thought they were fake at first due to the amazing colour. No idea what they are. ?

Yes the underside is not right for an Inonotus. Thanks for your help. I'll look it up.

Damn they look like Chanterelles.

Pretty sure they’re not sulphur tuft as sulphur’s have adante gills and your ones appear to have decurrent gills.
