The Kelly kettle owners thread

I've got a pipsqueak stove for my bell tent. Looks nice but its way to small. I end up constantly feeding it with kindling sized bits of wood.

Kelly kettle is on this list for the next purchase.

re getting these stoves going just got a product called flamers woodshavings dipped in parrifin wax burn a treat just then need to put some twigs on to keep it going. that was with them when it was blowing geting it going. now i have these will us it more nothing better than a hot drink not luke warm from a flask and stewed

On the basis of this thread I have bought a Ghillie kettle looks about the same as a Kelly but has a whistle instead of a cork which has three distinct advantages,

 

1, I should avoid blowing myself up when one of my mates thinks its a good idea to pop the cork in :-0

 

2, the whistle will make sure I don't leave it to burn out when I forget its on

 

3, the whislte should keep the crap from the fire dropping into the boiling water

so jobs a gud un

yes they are good the ghillies. need to get mine going again. in van but not used it. but fed up with stewed black coffee in the afternoon when a nice hot tea would go down a treat and can do some soup on top whilst its boiling water.

I have got a Kelly kettle but this is what I usually use.

This works on the stove just as well too.

It is a coffee percolator but without the percolator in it, and it is sat on an old stainless biscuit barrel with some holes cut in it.

I use it to boil water rather than to percolate coffee (which it was pretty rubbish at anyway)

It works very well, better than a kelly kettle but it does take up a bit more room I guess.
