I have bought 10 meters - but haven't tryed it yet. :-)

Have been using "Soft Heat" 10mm for half a year, and have been really happy about it.

The ocean polyester seems quite hard - i hope it will bite ok???

I expect to try it out this week....

Anyone has experience with it? And what kind of WT do you use?

Don't do it would be my advice... I find it too stiff and it fails to grab reliably even though I've tried a variety of set-ups. I have just tried some of this new Armor-Prus stuff (reviewed on here) and found it to be completely the reverse... supple and reliable.

Aside from that... the Ocean eye to eye cost me £20!!!

Chris from Treemagineers told me that the Ocean Polyester was developed specifically for friction hitches.... and the testing they put it through was pretty tough too.

I like the way these guys approach things (considered and professional) but feel they've missed the mark on this product... at east thats the way I see it. Conversely... the Hitch Climber is A1.

I use the OP with a Hitchclimber with Vt and find that it only seems to bite every now and then. It seems quite stiff and I always go back to the Yale Bee Line. I'm not sure if it just needs breaking in or not, but its something to be aware of.

I use them on two of my climbing ropes in two different lengths, fantastic piece of kit, like someone lese said they take time to break in, to get round that problem i put an extra wrap on either my VT or my knut, depending on which rope i am using, forget buying by the metre, the whole idea is to have smaller eyes too make them work with the hitchclimbers. :001_smile:

Interesting...... Donaghys developed this product specifically for Team New Zealand when they won the Americas Cup back in 1995. When we first developed it for the high point loading on winches we used polyester as the core then moved to materials with higher breaking loads so they could reduce the diameter.

It has been copied by just about everyone these days but it was definitely not developed "specifically for friction hitches"....Now ArmorPrus was I can assure you of that.

Good try Chris............:sneaky2:
