The prussik wouldnt drag it because the slack would feed up over the anchor point until the slack was gone. I cant see how it would srag it down. The prussik wont move down the line unless pulled on.

I'm talking about a situation where if the prussik slips it will drag the tibloc down as it pushes the micro pulley down and as I've said it's a tool designed for emergency use only in rescue situations on kernmantle rope, that's Petzl's words, not mine.

cheers Adam, beat me to it.

If a considerable amount of force is put on the hitch it will slip, if the tibloc was set on the line then the hitch could slide down enough to create a drag effect on the tibloc resulting in it ripping the rope, no toothed ascender should be used in a system all the time, it begs for something to happen!

If you want to make the setup in that video even cheaper you could replace the petzl tiblock with a boot lace tied like a prussic loop, not home at the moment but when I am I shall set it up and take a picture

Yeah if you could show me and take a few pictures that would be great.

Thanks:thumbup1:

As suggested previously a shoe lace would be a cheap and perhaps! Safer option.

+1

Shoelace tied as a loop to a small tool carabiner, clipped onto the micro pulley that advances the prussik. Shoelace is then tied as a prussik to the standing part of the rope. Easy, cheap and safe.

I dont understand why people go to all these lengths to try and make an antiquated hitch perform like a modern advancing hitch, when the obvious thing to do would just be to switch to a modern hitch

i shall be switching to a modern hitch in February when they release the zig zag i have mine on preorder now.

To be honest mate you are best of getting used to a hitch like the zigzag setup, try out a Knut and pulley or vt and pulley then you will get the feel of how the zigzag will work for you :thumbup1:
