I use a pillow case to put the rope in , keep it together in the wash , all way run the machine first to wash out any chemicals (washing powder).

Hope this helps.

Peter.

A1 that man!! DO put it on a cycle 1st, some detergents have NASTY chemicals in them!

you can use plain soap suds or nickwax tech wash to help clean them though

If you have room you can make Drying box with a electric dehumidifier in it.

Or hang everything in a closet or small room with a dehumidifier running in it.

It's far less wear and tear than a tumble dryer for clothes and I don't see why a rope would be much different plus there's no chance of the rope contacting a hot spot.

Mine works best in the 25C to 40C range and gets a couple of litres of water out in 6 hours. I must put an energy meter on it to see how much electricity it uses,

I must put an energy meter on it to see how much electricity it uses,

I've just measured the energy use of mine in a closet with a washing machine load of my work clothes, it removed 1.452 litres of water and used 2.2kWh of electricity, I think I had the humidity set low and left it running for too long so it could do better. In water evaporation terms that's about 42% efficient.

I think this is comparable with the 1.3kWhr I see quoted for a 7kg load in a conventional tumble drier. It's a lot less hassle than the tumble dryer, can dry boots and coats and the clothes can be taken straight off the hanger and worn.

I do note the point that it is probably not necessary to do more than spin-dry rope.
