Do you deliver wet logs?

I didn't deliver my logs damp! They were barn stored and loaded on the truck with the truck backed in to the barn. Then covered with this if it was raining. Nissan cabstar truck cover will fit flatbed or tipper | eBay

But like I said the dampness even permeates into the barn this year with the horizontal rain.

I guess there ain't much ya can do about it then Dave!.....Is it an open sided barn?....Could you install a cheap wood burner and burn the crap/rubbish bits of timber that you would not send out to customers? I had an old gas bottle stove in my barn that kept the place warm/dry (ish) and was handy for a hot cuppa and a bacon butty!

With all the barn stock gone 3 weeks ago, we are now processing 18months + timber straight into the trucks. We are covering the lengths and making an effort to keep it as dry as possible, but to be honest by the time we get to the drop it is not as nice as I'd like. It is so busy, we never get a chance to cut stock into the barns. I explain the situation, and so far all customers have been fine.

Yes they have been out in the rain for 12 months. Whats the alternative get the hair dryer out . The black fully seasoned wringing wet logs burn much better than that creamy coloured barn stored stuff. I am sure your regulars trust you by now to deliver a quality product. Imagine the cost if you have to store 500 cube in barns for 12 months.

I am saying to my customers that you are not getting the best of me at the moment....... a line I have used many times after drinking to much sparkling wine

It cant be helped dave, i am struggling to keep the kiln dried logs i am selling dry, all i am doing is taking them from the crate and putting in a builders bag and delivering!

 

Have you thought of errecting a large army tent or something to work in? They have wokshop tent things forsale in machine mart at the moment.
