Took down some Pines on Tuesday and got gunked with sap so badly the rope wouldn't run through my spider jack. I washed by rope, lanyard and hitch in the washing machine on a warm wash. They all came out spotless. I soaked my carabiners, SJ and metal gear in hot soapy water for half hour and then shifted the stubborn stuff with a toothbrush. Again, everything came out spotless.

serioulsy stop cleaning your hands with Petrol you ill end up with contact dermititus at best trust me you dont want that i have a sesitivity to most oils and fuels and being a spanner man its not good when i flare up it gets to the point your whole hands crack up and bleed ! i dont get may episodes as i now know the triggers use proper natural hand cleaners and yes moisturiser if needs be and use gloves and barrier cream at work etc !

I have a nightmare getting all the stuff off my machines at the end of the season, plus if we've been doing a lot of loading fires the machines get coated in a horrid black stuff on the dipper arms and attachments.

I've tried pretty much everything until I stole the wife's 'bug and tar' wipes from turtle wax.

These aren't cheap, but absolutely effortlessly shift all the residue from the paintwork with minimal effort.

I tried some other brands and even some solution that I could spray on that was supposed to be 'bug and tar' but nothing comes close to these wipes.

Well worth a go for some of your gear and shouldn't harm anything?

Eddie.
