As someone affected recently by suicide I don't think this's made her do it, I think It may of been the straw that broke the camels back. Pretty sad situation.

I think Samaritans said the same. It's an important point which needs to be remembered.

I think unless you have been involved in suicide you should keep you comments to your self as you do not know how it affects you untill god help you it happens. It's awful!

If I walk up to a hospital reception and pretend I,m an engineer here to collect a piece of equipment and leave with an X-ray machine - I,ve have taken something that I shouldn't have. If I ring up a hospital pretend I,m a relative to get something I shouldn't have I have still taken something I shouldn't have.

Not really comparable, this was a "joke" it was "funny" (it made me laugh) this was not done to hurt any one, the out come is tragic, but that was not the intention.

The world cannot operate if every decision has to factor in one in a million occurrences such as this.

What if you dismantle a veteran tree in a park for a council?

And a man kills himself. Because that tree was where he proposed to his now dead wife and he went there every day to remember her. And without it he couldn't live.

Would you accept the blame for his death?

You can't compare the two situations. The scenario you present shows the tree worker to be doing his job in the prescribed manner whereas the case of the DJs shows clear mischief in legal terms in their actions. There is a precedent in Tort concerning physical injury that 'You take your victim as you find them' ( Smith v Leech Brain ), otherwise known as the 'Eggshell Skull' Rule. This means that if you injured somebody by your negligent actions and the severity of that injury was aggravated by an underlying physical condition unknown to you, you are still liable for the full degree of damage above and beyond that which would have been incurred by a 'normal' member of the public. I suspect that proving causation in this instance would be problematic but, if they have a shred of humanity, the two DJ's should always be wondering if it they were the cause of this unfortunate woman's death.

Come on if you go down that road you would do nothing.

I imagen the DJ's fully expected not to be believed, I think they thought that they would simply be broadcasting them having their cover blown by the hospital staff, you no the sort of thing

"I am the Queen, how dare you suggest I'm not!!" "sorry mam, but we your not using the proper channels for contact" "I can put you in the tower you know!!" etc, etc, You get the idea.

I'm sure they were totally gob smacked when they got put through :001_huh:

That is word for word from the media reports

You must have that ozzie soh then; not here  Nothing remotely funny about it imo. emphasize imo - obv not yours and that's fine. Those DJs overstepped the mark; imo impersonating someone, let alone who in this case, is very out of order; finding it funny imo is as low as it gets.

If that's a dig at me, I resent that.

'God help me' it already has. The numb feeling while you go over what you could have done differently, if you could have saved them, is devastating.

It nearly happened again recently, fortunately my wife and I managed to get our friend to get some help, but racing to someone's house in the middle of the night terrified you will find them hanging is not an experience I'm in a hurry to repeat.

It was comment in general. If you have been involved in a suicide them you know how it feels. I can't be arsed with this anymore, life's to short. WhAtever!

I frankly found the Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand prank much more offensive and disgusting . No-one could foresee the outcome of these so called ' jokes ' . One being a foulmouthed gobshite getting a multi million pound tv show and the others probably will be out the industry for good .
