Funnily enough i was just going to post the same thread, although my vt is running fine my rope is almost frozen through, climbing in the rain one day then ice-snow the next is not a good mix, found out today that the lowering rope wont grab limbs very well and had one slide out just missing a fence.

I think in regards to the vt,try different variations of the hitch,less/more wraps etc...more wraps less twists.

In for a fun winter!

Have a second rope and/or get a SJ or LJ or ZigZag or Unicender.

Second rope gets wet, same boat,im hearing the mech devices, but ropes still frozen and very kinky!

Place im in in Sweden it pretty much rains most days so dry ropes dont exist, then the cold!

Plus karabiners freeze solid so dont think the devices would help much/
