Feed rollers getting held up by a chunk of chip

On are KwikChip the top feed roller some times get held up by a chunk of chip, this is usually from when a larger branch goes through. In most case all that is required is to put a branch though large enough to lift the roller and the chunk of chip falls out, but some times the chunk won't dislodge. I then have to lift of the shout and lift the roller up.

Is there any way round this problem, a modification i can make?

I had an old Jensen with the same problem. The solution was to buy a newer Jensen that is better designed.

I'm pro Jensen so I would suggest your solution is to buy a Jensen.

Keep the ratio of foliage to timber as even as possible when chipping, don't let a lot of chip gather up in the hopper. It happens with Tp chippers, when chipping beech and sycamore with no leaf.

love the chicken dance idea, normally i just point and say ugg or something similar and then we find something big enough to dislodge it. Unfortunately i dont think there is much can be done about it anyway as it is par for the course with any chipper i have ever used. They get blocked or jammed or whatever from time to time its just the way it is.

Likewise on the big chunk, it's often where a piece has got stuck in the aperture where the top roller moves.

Big chunk in, then stop the rollers with the safety bar, free the piece, then restart.

Ill stick to finding a big lump to pass through it to let it drop back out then. On another little fort when you put through a big v piece of wood that won't fit through the opening the top roller some times stops turning, only happens though when it can't pull it through.

Im reckoning i have a pressure relief valve that i need to adjust?

if i read this right if you have a piece of timber go in that is to big for the throat the top roller stops ?

 

Yes there will be a PRV but its not out of adjustment its doing its job to prevent damage to the roller and motor !

Agreed. It happens to the greenmech aswell. Pull the bar and in it goes. The greenmech cm220 will get blocked up the shoot if the blades get blunt as instead of chipping it starts to shred.

Our tp chipper has started to return small lumps of wood, which then cause the feed rollers to jam.

Is this the same issue, it is on beech with no leaves.

Do I need to teach the guys how to chicken dance
