Hitch Hiker thread.

Recommended Posts

You on a HH these days James?

Yes, over a yr now. Absolutely great bit of kit. After butchering my zigzag1 and adding it to a hitch climber I have often wanted to add the ZZ bit to the HH. That could be good but I am concerned about side loading the zigs on the ZZ when against a branch or whatever. Same applies to the positioner added to the HH though. It has made me like rope again after going all metal for quite a few yrs.

In my head I felt like the HH took the load first then the spiderjack, but obviously the other way around? I'm tired and can't get my head around it but if enough force is taken from the spiderjack, and it is positioned central though I still can't get in my head how it's different to a positioner, obviously I'm wrong, but still can't think lol

In that case think of it this way! Does a spider jack sit nice and central in DRT? It does.

The termination end centralises the system when attached to the Dynema sling. It may not be much out in degrees! But it would matter once your weight is on it! There DRT devices! Not for single line use! With or with a wrench or HH :)

Makes total sense, I guess because iv seen a few guys running them with a wrench I just thought it was ok, I did email ART at the time about it to ask if it was all ok with the wrench and he said there shouldn't be a problem at all, but I honestly don't know enough about it to comment. Thanks for the insight Adam, are you on the hitchhiker over the wrench all the time?

I recently got a length of Cougar Blue to climb on.

My Armor Pruss worked well but is now worn out and I couldn't find any more.

I got some 8mm Sirius and used it today in the wet. For 2hrs it was perfect, then impossible when it was really wet.

Then it dried out a bit and was good again.

Anyway, I hear HRC is good but there are no UK retailers for it.

Any thoughts on what works best with the HH on Cougar Blue?

(I had some 6mm Liros a couple of years ago and that was sublime on Poison HiVee).
