that looks like a pretty cool build predator, be good to see what it can split, although i get the feeling the answer is whatever you put on it! looks real strong.

nice job!

well thankyou david for your coment & yes it does split anything i put through it but to play safe i,ve turned the hydraulic pressures down a tad as the twin i beams that i welded together start to flex downwards on knotty stuff sometimes so all i do is flip the log and split from the other end of the log i,ve got it running slow engine rev,s about a day n a bit on a gallon petrol and as its for my own firewood i,am in no rush to abuse it etc full revs fast firewood i like to plod along and watch my firewood pile grow lol

i see all you guys have the same blade shape and quite large ... you have a big bang when logs split and sometimes flying logs ? i made my own splitter and used tapered blade and found that big bangs as logs split dont happen also being a smaller blade i found splitting 3+ ft rings still not a problem. sorry no pic as i sold the damn thing but about to build another also i run it from a power pack and find this much quicker and cheaper to run.

That one of bog69 looks impressive and predator's machine does as well. If I could scrounge enough bits up I'd have a go at one but now I'm retired I don't get the pick of a scrapheap any more. My friend's lad is building one gradually from a JCB ram and a pump and RSJ they have acquired. He is opting for a vertical machine and the ram has about a 2 foot throw so it will need some oomph.. I was impressed by the video in your album as well bog, that lad should go far :D
