If you're still looking in spring, let me know. I suspect one of ours has died as it shed its leaves very early. If it doesn't leaf out, it will be available.

If the above happens early enough give me a shout: I'll be taking the pickup to Caithness around April 10th so could throw the wood out en passant.

I found a couple of pieces of smoke bush which is a good second place to Sumach, if you want them I'll parcel them up and you can make a small donation to the Arbtalk coffers :001_smile:

There is enough for a few spoons and maybe a really small bowl type object,

All the best Pat

Well, one of the suspect looking ones fell over in the recent winds (no roots remaining) so that one is now available. It's about 4in dia (they never seem to get much bigger than this) and the first section is about 2ft long. There are then several more lengths. Let me know what the minimum useful diameter is and I'll cut accordingly.

there's a few in salford that i've seen that are at least 6-8" diameter and 2-3' length maybe more, if they ever "come down" i'll keep you in mind:biggrin:

It is nice wood, it has been used by north american indians to make a tonic drink.

It is very sappy like Rob said but it makes great spoons.
