Please excuse my ignorance, but how do you milk a rope?:confused1:

Put a Prussik at one end and secure that end to something solid with lots of room behind it, keep pressure on the Prussik and run it down to the end of the rope, it will stretch the sheath and will leave you with a core less piece of rope at the end. Cut it off and melt the end so it stays together. Job done!

just so got this straight, if i was to attatch the spliced end to a crab and a strop around a tree trunk and stretch the rope with a prussik down its length will this work? will the core leave the rope or will it just squash all the air and voids out?

Sorry, I really am that stupid!

You're exactly right and that's the reason a SJ or LJ is so much better as they really do self tend and there is no sit back at all.

On the other hand, have you considered SRT? I've just ordered a Hitch Hiker, Woohoo!

Anyone want to buy a hardly used Role Wrench?

anyone want to buy a Hitch Hiker off me? probably too expensive to post to the UK though. personally im not a fan of it but its a cool idea.

and for the HC issues i think getting a pantin is a must have, saves you having to tend the slack on ascents and lets you use ya legs more.
