I saw a McDillen saw on the bay of E and thought it looked interesting.

It was very cheap.

It was also in Germany.

It was late so I bid on it and won it.

£40

I wanted anther saw to run against my Stihl MS 260.

Have I done something very foolish?

When they have blown their cash on an item they have to give it a positive review because the alternative is that they have bought a lemon and it wouldn’t do to let people know that would it?

Okay so putting the fact its coming from Germany to one side - its a chinese saw and i've had one before it worked hard for a few years and was perfectly serviceable however now I have Stihl I wouldnt go back if you paid me!

 

It looks like he could do with sharpening that chain up properly in the vid!

 

On the plus side, he doesnt claim it to be anything that it isnt - IE no Husky stickers - and it has a nice blow mould box.

 

If you bought it for 40 quid I really wouldnt loose sleep over it - it will do what you want if you need a second back up saw which you dont intend to use too hard.

The Oregon bar and chain are worth more than £40.00... bargain, not worth buying a new bar and chain, just buy a new saw.

 

I feel sea sick now after seeing him rock the flipping up and down so much, he could have tried letting the saw do some of the work.

For around the £50 mark, you have a very cheap saw. It's not going to set the world on fire, but if you do a couple of jobs with it, it's earned it's keep, may be useful as a back up saw. Decent bar/chain, nothing wrong there. It is what it is, a cheap saw, if it lasts then you're laughing.

The thing could do with a re-tune, the top end is very four strokey,for £40 - you get what you pay for, if it lasts a few months, you have a bargain, if it dies in two days, you don't!
