Thanks Reg, the two stems over the road and the drive were rigged to avoid damaging the tarmac, the other two were just dropped on to the area up the slope a bit. We had cleared two yew trees and some laurels of there earlier so the ground was bare.

 

Top job mate.

 

I find if you can fell chunks like that using pull offs onto scruffy areas / piles of brush it's quicker and safer than rigging everything down.

 

I'm not talking about manicured lawns here, but some posts I have seen contain unnecessary rigging just 'cos its fun!

 

Pushing rings onto a ton sack filled with brush protects just about anything IME. Long as you're a good shot!
