I'm interested in learning this for large tree access. Can anyone recommend a basic, easy kit to start with?Been looking at the petzel stuff but am guessing it will be expensive.Would a ascender, pantin, strop and access line do for starting?Don't know anyone that does it so will be self teaching.I'm not interested in climbing around in srt just for access to start with. The cheaper the option the better.

Any help advice would be great thanks

you could just buy a rope wrench thats what I did that and a foot ascender and would think everything else would be in your kit.:001_smile:

Wrench. its easy to set up, feels weird at first but works, foot ascender and hand jammer. Thats all you need really. I use the wrench to ascend, then swap back to DRT once in the crown, I got the removable pin, so it take a less than a minute to sort out.
