Thanks for the heads up on the Beech, Steve. Don't come across many to fell down here. Pollarding to 2 foot wounds with an epicormic as a growing point seems to be the preferred option among the highly learned people of this part of the world.....

 

mark, note at the very end of the video when the camera pans onto the trunk, you can see how the fibres have held at the buttreeses
