How much do you get for it ?

I haven't had any to sell to the miller I mentioned but a couple of years ago one of the best known turners in the south-east saw a 6' x 8" length in my pickup and gave me £40 for it there and then.

I have no idea whether that's market price but the cost to me was felling it and snedding it!

Not bad, I'd always thought it was hard to get turners to stick their hand in their pocket and just chuck it all on the log pile.

Might be worth giving the fella who gives classes local to me a call.

Worth a go. Don't let it go cheaply as most turners visibly drool when they see lab with a good sized and dark heart.

Re my 'sold a length' post above... I didn't know what it was worth and the buyer is a notorious skinflint. He specialises in one species and I'm told that he doesn't pay for it; he just does the owners a favour by removing it!

dense timber, great firewood for own use , poisonous tree loved by wood turners dont worry to much about smell of the smoke ,burning changes chemical composition,, as with all fuel,no confined space, carbon monoxide alarm in place. post my opinion not set in stone

It does depend on where you are and who you know.... I took a fair bit to a woodturners quarterly meeting - was selling for £1-00 to £2-00 per foot length (6" to 8" diameter) and came back with most of it.

stick it too one side rob,, I`ll take the lot off you, along with any acacia burrs you get,,,:thumbup1:
