I'll match that 30C day of yours Adam. Stinking hot here and still didnt get a swim in the lake.

Nothing major work wise but lifting some trees in Riverside Park ready for a concert and came across a couple of nice Elms. Forgotten what a decent sized Elm looked like as most of them were being felled when I was last in the UK.

Nice looking tree.

Do you have the same problem with the Elm Leaf Beetle that Australia does?

Cheers David, we have a few of them in the park. No sign of any issues down in Taupo with any kind of Beetles on these fortunately. In fact, they're two of the healthiest trees in the park. We do however have issues with gum leaf skeletoniser, or so we think.

Just a quick check; fortunately we don't have the Elm leaf beetle in NZ. We do however have DED. I believe it's contained to Auckland and they have quite a proactive program up there but occasionally there's a fresh outbreak.

Got to say David, I was pretty stoked to see these Elms. I had a little bit to do with the DED eradication in Auckland but most of those trees were pollarded. The ones in Taupo are crackers. It was a shame to even touch them but apparently the tents, marquees and caravan thingies of the "artists" performing at the concert are far more important than some silly old trees.
