Taking a chainsaw on a plane

After working at Gatwick... Defo drain fuel and oil as these are seen as hazardous goods. Sensibly packed it ought to go in the hold no issue.

Well worth a call ahead to be sure.

Maybe even a note on the package to say No Fuel No Oil inside?

Cheers Mike, good to hear. I'll wrap it up well.

I was definitely going to call easyjet beforehand to get the official line, although with mentioning no specifics to my actual booking... but I'd have thought a note on the outside of the luggage would cause more problems than it solves... what they don't know can't hurt them, why draw attention to something that would only stress them out unnecessarily?

Where were you working at Gatwick Bob_z_l?

I worked as a Dispatcher for 7 months.

Up till the crazy early starts and 14miles a day got to me.

I thought I was a fit 58 but I lost 1.5 stone (I'm not a big chap) and my knees were complaining.

Nice people and a real eye-opener working airside.

I have flown with saws both new and used plenty of times.

Drain tanks, protect bucking spikes, check in as normal luggage. End of.

It’s easy for you though because they’re more worried about your guns.

Time for a yarn.

I arrived in Norway with an 084 and 10kg of protein powder. I had to declare the saw and pay duty since I bought it for the company.

Took the red lane and to the custom agents delight was a foreigner. They swabbed the protein powder but the machine wouldn't work. So they punctured a bag and offered it to the drug dog who gulped it down

I nearly fell over laughing as the nog dog handler went ballistic over his dog eating choccy protein powder. Still got the saw.
