just been looking on tinternet & found this site.

does anyone in the uk know of or own one of these machines?

Not CE marked, would fall fowl of HSE if you wanted an employee to use it and if you were using it to split logs for sale you could even be in bother for using it yourself.

 

In the UK all splitters need to be two handed operation, with the exception of the screw type splitter I think.

Even truer however shorly a competant person ( qualified with lets say nptc 31 - 39 ) should realise to move fingers&thumbs when the ram is moving forwards?

As been said above, there's no one bringing them into the UK because they don't have CE and probably can't get around it.

 

From what I can gather about how these work, they are great on straight grained, easy splitting timber but next to useless on anything knotty.

 

two handed doesn't have to be a slow machine, it's more about things like ram speed, adjustable stroke and auto return.

Accidents happen with the monotony of using things for hours though

If this guy still has all his fingers on his left hand I would be very surprised. Just look how close he gets to the splitting blade.
