Lock Jack Sport Help!!

The "jerkiness" of the Lockjack was the reason for Art producing the Spiderjack, IMO.

 

I just don't understand why they continued to make the LJ after they had produced the SJ??

 

The only thing I would put it to is that people prefer the mid line mounting ability of the LJ. Which is handy.

 

Owning both, I prefer the spider jack hands down

And the ease of releasing slack threw the top of the lj as you can barely do it with the sj as the brake gets in the way.

try not hoding the toggle at all, grip the body of the jack with a finger or two on the crimp that crimps the rope to the jack, this allows much more precise controll

 

I own both, the spider self tails better but the lockjack is waaaaaay more versitile & once you're used to it its faster about the tree IMO

Totally agree, it's the better tool for majority of jobs.

Me too. In the wet I always put my other hand on the rope below the lj as its way smoother. I agree put your hand on top for decents as i feel you have more control.

also if your limb walking ie not going straight down you can grab the rope above the lockjack and slacken it then let it out with your hand kinda hard to explain but the best thing for the lock jack is a rope wrench i found it made desecnts loads smoother and more controld and as the friction is always the same with srt you can really get used to it.

and as others have said when the cams wear a bit it becomes easier.

stick with it loads easier than a hitch imo!

I have the lockjack sport and similar experience using it however a few of the suggestions on here I have tried already.

 

Even with a fimbleclimb cambium saver it still jolts when I feed out unless my whole weight is on it then I can get it to be a lot smoother. Also worse when wet.

The rope i have now is Cousin ATRAX 11.6mm as this was designed for devices such as this. 

I am thinking about the Spiderjack 3 but it looks bigger and I like the size of the lockjack. Maybe I'll try the Spiderjack and either keep this lockjack sport or sell it. Please post if anyone has more suggestions for using this kit
