When the brother was looking for an alternative to his motorfactors job, he concluded that most of his likely livelyhoods were made un-viable by those "doing the double".

He was aware of the significent %age of car repairs carried out as part of the black economy from his delivery rounds.

All paid in cash.

From this perspective some of the breast beating about the Northern Ireland employment statistics are more than a little misleading as a significent %age of the claimants are also working.

Especially in the building trades.

PS

Steve?

Iffen I was looking to go 3-Phase for firewood equipment, what sort of money should a suitable 2nd hand genny cost.

I could also consider sommat new on running off a tractor PTO shaft?

Mulling my options over.

Cheers

Marcus

I picked a 15kw lister engine lighting tower up for £1k and then got the local generator sparky to convert from 110v to 3 phase or 240v which cost me another £350.

So I take it every single log you have sold has gone through your books and the tax man knows every single sale you have done.....:001_rolleyes:

So what if other people are selling logs. And how can you say they are on the dole, if they were on the dole how would they get the core timber in the first place......

Maybe I'm missing something here.:confused1:

The answer to your first question is yes

I would say its a god given right of every tree surgeon to sell his arb arisings as logs through which ever transaction method he chooses.

What annoys me is people who accumulate a pile of arb waste from what ever source then sell it cheap whilst poncing of the dole ( your tax ) killing your living. They dont have cord wood as they dont have the facilities to store hence the reason they run out in a few weeks.
