Now I have been aware of these for quite some time but never gave them much of a thought till I saw this on one ebay for a shade over 50 quid. So out of curiosity, I bought it. One guide bar and chain later it’s on the log pile and going like a good un.

It hasn’t got the chain speed of a petrol saw but it’s luverly and quiet and the old David Brown will run it all day on a few quids worth of cherry with no vibration at all.

Thats as cool as a very cool thing. I used a big one a mate made up a few years ago - very powerfull, it was impossible to stall it in the cut, even with a 60 inch bar on it.

Some years ago a mate found one in a sale and bought it for next to nothing, it was silver and a McConnell I think.

We piped it up and stuck a bar and chain on and it went, but that was about it, very numb and heavy with the pipes etc.

Went back into the next sale.

Suppose you could have made a cheap small processor with it maybe.
