Jensen Chippers, views please

i work with the little 750 contractor.

it is 6 inch and is a turbo.

good chipper but i prefer the timber wolf controls. the nudge bar is a bit sensitive and you cant always tell whats going on at the rollers when the hopper is full of thorn.

but it chips a lot better that the non turbo version we used to have!!

We've had our A530 for 5 years now, it almost broke us buying it, but its paid us back times over.

 

Did a large site clearence at the back end of last year with a mate of mine (his job)

He had a petrol tow along T/Wolf 6" and i thought it was significantly slower, the brash had to be cut up alot smaller (our Jensen was pulling 40' lengths of Lombardi through in a single gulp)

 

I know they're totally different machines but its a VERY big difference.

 

Its also, i'm ashamed to say, fairly addictive pulling big lumps of tree over with the jensen, or lowering half ton lumps out.

 

Since buying it, the only time we've used the tirfor is for stump pulling.

 

And, as long as HSE aren't listening, there might have been the odd time near the end of the shift when the Jensen comes in handy for pulling tired (old) climbers back up the larger trees

I wouldn't be allowed to try that but if the climber is roped in normally and can take the slack would there be a LOLER issue?

the dogs of chippers have had a 240 on back of mog for 6 years only one breakdown dont waste time with the green one there made of cheese

Took delivery of the A540 a few days ago, awsome machine, would highly recomend, and ive used alot of chippers in my time. Get what you pay for.

The a 540 is such a good chipper , my god can those chippers chip well ! That's all I know about them

We have a 750 contractor, Chip is high quality and fine, fires to the back of ANY truck no problems with wet conifer so far. I like the roller desing, turns the branches so less snedding required than with similar spec machines. I think it was a new design when we got it new and had a few build issues but even when out of the warranty they took it away and dealt with any issue free of charge.

 

If I was looking to set up again I would by choice take the old 125 ruggerinni engined timberwolf but they no longer make it and would definatley buy the 750 contractor over anythin else.

I have had 540T on tracks, on demo last week, excellent machine but good all rounder is 530t on tracks, covers all our needs and can get it in tightest of spots and through padestrian gates, so we are getting another
