Its going in to the same garage for the 200 mile check/tighten up/problem sort. Not got a massive list but lots and lots of little things. The biggest problem is the no crank when the key is turned but can get round that with a flywire. This is the list we have so far

• Wont crank. Possibly immobiliser or ignition switch related

• Oil leak from power steering fluid reservoir

• Radiator hose leaking at cylinder head end

• Heater hose leaking

• Bonnet catch is very stiff

• Rattle from underneath near transferbox. Possibly a loose bolt

• Drivers side door has play on the bottom and top hinge pin

• Spotlights need re aligning as pointing into the sky

I dunno, Jon, from what's been said on the thread it doesn't sound the most pro of jobs, especially from a garage that seemed to be charging plenty too. The alarm bells were ringing well before the wiring loom was stuck on the outside of the chassis :001_smile:

Mmmm, I have to say I'm in agreement here Chris. Very sorry to say Matt.

Going by the length of time they had the truck, it should have been an A1 job done, but with the list of return jobs to sort, I'd not be happy.

I've done my own re-chassis, and will admit I stuck the loom on the outside of the leg, but I will admit to being a numb handed tree surgeon, not a mechanic. My V8 when finished had no further jobs to be done either, and cost me a total of £600 for the galv chassis.

It does lead me to wonder Matt, if they are a general garage, that although may be very good at their job, have not done too many landy rebulids? Could be jumping the gun totally here, but paying what you did it should have been a much better finish.

The garage is a german car specialist with a 4x4 mechanic from Nissan and Land Rover. It was their first and last chassis replacement. The garage owner has said if there are any problems make a note of them and let him know. The no crank was an intermitent fault which was fine in the garage but decided to play about in a week or so from coming out of the garage. We now know what the problem is so we shall be having that done. The leaking heater hose has only just started to leak and its only tiny droplets. The powersteering fluid reservoir leak is something we have been meaning to get sorted but never got round to it.

Im sorry to be a killjoy but it know looks like you have a knocked of Td5 with that crossmember ? i know im fussy but that and the wrong gearbox crossmember would make me think twice if i came to buy a similar ages vehicle. just my opinion but we all free to choose what and who we use. not unsuall for a snag list sometimes things just happen !

ill stick with me like for like Galved replacements !
