Mog or Not???

Well I finally got to the point of needing to up grade my landys! What i need is some help in deciding whether i should get a 1750 Mog or a 7.5 tonne tippper? Any practical advice would be greatly recived, 1 major advantage of the mog route is the ability to tow a 3.5 tonne trailer as well as chipper with out a HGV licence. I Think :confused1:

if you get a 7.5 tonner you can only tow 750kg behind it if you get a mog you need to be ready for the bills.if your upgrading landys why not get 2 transits then you can move what you want to some extent.

Its a tough decission to make to be honest so many options and so many regulations with each option imo

The mog will MAM at 10600kg?????

your landys will carry / tow as much if not more than the 7.5 tonner so youd need to go to a 18 tonner to be worth all the paper work

 

How'd you figure that out :confused1:

 

Volume wise i fitted the whole of my 130 on the back of my mates 7.5tonner

 

Weight wise my 130 pre chipbox had a load weight of circa 1.5t, a 7.5tonner double that minimum

 

Agreed an 18tonner would possibly be better especially with a grab, but the original poster, from what i gather hasnt a HGV licence, although thats a little unclear

 

 

 

Do you need the offroad ability or pto of the Mog?

If you need 4wd and PTO then it's a no brainer, a Unimog. If you do loads of miles, not a Mog.

If you work in a city get a unimog with chipper on the front and trailer behind. It's the most compact versatile and capable setup you could imagine. Look at Skyhucks photos on the Unimogs Rock thread.

i should have been clearer i was meaning landrover and trailer v 7.5 tonner

Ok a few extra points! I am trying to cut back to one vehicle, so there are less out goings! But still need to carry around 10m3 of waste at any one point We go off road fairly often mainly around fishing lakes but the remainder of my work is domestic and log deliveries so thought a hiab would be useful. More discussions please!
