Logs sizes!

I've just processed about ten cubes without checking my measurements! I usually do 10inch logs but these have come out at 12inch. The only other size I offer is 18inch and that's to the pub! What's the norm for everyone else, might just stick to 12 from now on.

Always used to cut at around 8 1/2 to 9 inches unless someone specified any different.

 

Ours seems to be a normal sized fireplace and while 12" fit, they are a bit snug to get a decent pile on.

 

Am sure no one will be too bothered about the few longer ones though.

I don't even need to ask - granny log is 5-6" long I bet?

 

Thankfully always managed to work around that one.

 

Tis a shame more people don't have big stoves that take 18-20" logs.

 

My old next door neighbour had a huge dog grate and would take a 10" diameter piece split once at 22" long - like doing his logs

Always cut overlength in half - well I do cos a big log might ping, break the stoves glass and lose a customer... 9" tho 7" for some requesters with 4-5 kW baby stoves...

Most small stoves want 280mm MAX, to make sure they load nicely I cut at 240mm and split everything above 50mm diameter.

 

0nly 15% of my stove sales could take longer logs.

Its 9inch here unless the customer specifies anything else . If they do its usually 12 inch .
