It'd be interesting to see how many of those who really rate the 346 use them for primarily arb and how many use them primarily for production cutting.

i used one for both! in my own arb work and doing a bit of subby felling larch

Welllll, with 40 some odd years in the industry, and having run scads of saws...in the 3 cube class, the 346 is king. Back in the late 1980's I had the first light 3 cuber, a Jonsered 520SP. It had great power. Later, I was under impressed with the 026.....then, in 2002, I started amassing woods ported saws. I had a Solo 651, Shindaiwa 488 and a 346. The 346 was the best. Since then I've had a fully woods ported Dolmar 5100S and a muffler modded one see vid [ame]

I now have one 45 cc 346 and the new 50cc model, which is lower revving but has gobs of torque. Both are modded, and the 50cc saw was 54% faster than stock in the video that the builder provided. It is easily the best 3 cuber I've owned, and will keep up with a stock 70 cc saw in fair sized wood!
