  1. A belated update on this. It seems spud was correct, ADW does know a little about Husqvarnas. I swapped the ignition module (thanks Openspaceman) and haven’t had the problem reoccur since. I did wonder if the saw would need a software update after fitting the replacement ignition module but apparently not. Many thanks to all that contributed.
  2. Thanks, I don’t think it’s water in the fuel because It does it in the dry. Also when I tried it with the premix fuel, I emptied the tank first, then started started and cleared all the fuel in the lines before adding fresh fuel. It still played up in the same way.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. Ordering the wrong stuff is my new hobby. If you still have the Mk 1 coil and want to sell it, I might be interested.
  4. I’ve removed the carb and the little magnets are all present and correct. I’ve stuck M5 washers to them so they are still magnetic too. From what ADW said, this means that the ignition module is very likely to be kaput. Is it still worth trying to get the CST info, or should I just replace the module? L&S appear to have one in stock. Is there anywhere else I should be looking? Thanks.
  5. It would be nice if it identified as a 560. I’ve got some big stuff to cut up.
  6. Cheers. All good info. I haven’t had a chance to look at it today. My wife’s car is due it’s MoT on Friday. Fine all year but yesterday the exhaust started blowing. Today the handbrake seized on. I’ve been a bit distracted. I’ll get the saw in the bench tomorrow and check over the points raised.
  7. Not that warm. The second video was last Monday… in Wales.
  8. Thanks for the response. I didn’t get any feedback from the dealer as the bloke that did the job was out when I picked the saw up. Unhelpfully, the job card just said “repair”. I was unaware of the CST info, so will get back to them and see if they kept a copy and what they actually did to the saw. I might ask them to download the CST again if the didn’t. The problem just started happening. Admittedly I had been working it hard all day on a fallen ash. I serviced the saw with a new plug and air filter thinking that might be the problem. I did notice that some very fine dust had been getting past the filter. I’ll double check that the new and old plug were the correct type, although I’m pretty certain they are. I did wonder about the coil breaking down when the saw gets hot. I haven’t tested the compression, but it seems fine. Starting isn’t a problem hot or cold. Cheers
  9. I have an odd problem with my 550XP. It will run fine for 15-20 minutes then it starts to play up. With the throttle held wide open the power is intermittent. If I shut it down and go back to it the next day, the same thing happens. I’ve taken it in to the local Husqvarna dealer and they thought they had fixed it. Unfortunately not, although it does start more easily. I managed to get a couple of videos of what is happening. The first is when the problem first appeared, the second is just after I got it back from the dealer. Note that it happening with the throttle held wide open. Has anybody got any ideas as to what the cause and fix is? YouTube video 1 I thought it might be a problem with E10 fuel so tried some Husqvarna premixed fuel. Same problem. YouTube video 2 Thanks.
  10. Last time I was in the Cov Aldi a fight broke out. I've not been back since.
  11. 550xp It's luverly Now its non-starting problems have been fixed... new software, pot and piston on a saw with less than four hours on it.
  12. I've got the same thing with a 14" bar. It's an excellent little saw. Quiet and very well made.
  13. Yes, we never bothered as we didn't want to raise our profile. If we need to, we just use the same postcode as the house down the road and start the address with "The Caravan". The postman seems to know where we are. We have not needed planning as there has been a caravan on that location (off grid, in a field on its own) since 1945. It's just got a few feet longer every time it has been replaced. We only use it for holidays but it was originally a full time residence.
  14. I got mine cheap off eBay. Some people don't get on with them so there always seem to be a few on there.
  15. I have an Oregon manual one and I find it quick and easy to use if you have the saw on a bench. If you have several different types of chain, it will need setting up for each one, which is a pain. Off the bench, I use the Husqvarna clip on type. Quick and easy but not quite as consistent.

That is why I want mine back fixed... or a new replacement.
  17. I've found this forum good for AGA problems... agacentral.com

    Husky 550XP

Sounds like what happened to mine. Won't start and a dry plug after twenty minutes of trying. If it helps, apparently, there is a software update that is supposed to fix this. If Husqvarna are to be believed, it will be available for the dealers to install today. It they are telling the truth, maybe I'll get my saw back next week, although I'm not holding my breath. Three weeks to fix a saw with nothing physically wrong with it is ridiculous.[/moan]
  19. You should be OK. Apparently, the bloke that uploads Husqvarna's software updates for the dealers is back from his holidays tomorrow so they should be able to fix it a damned site quicker than my 550. Customer service doesn't seem to be one of Husqvarna's strong points.

Mrs Hoggin is doing the 5:2 (actually 4:3) and she finds that can be a bit lethargic on the "fast" days.

If you restrict calories, you won't have any energy. Common sense really. I lost a couple of stone by cutting out carbohydrates. Other than carbs you can eat pretty much what you want so energy levels can be kept up.
  22. Your use seems to be the same as mine. I bought a 550 and I have found pretty much ideal. However, bear in mind that if you get a bad one, even the bigger dealers may struggle to fix it quickly. I'm still waiting to get mine back.

  25. Ha ha! If it wasn't so late I'd pop out and make one to stick in the fireplace. I might try it tomorrow.
