If you gave me a grand everytime someone asked me that I might be able to insure mine... just. The bane of being 18 :'(

I asked the insurance company about fitting a CAT 1 Thatcham/TOAD alarm and immobiliser fitted, see how much my premium would drop. It doesn't. Because it's a modification I would have to pay an extra £178! She refused to admit it would reduce the chance of it being stolen... :confused1::001_rolleyes:

nasty people, they tried to say that my online quote was wrong before and tried to charge me an extra 100 quid. went with someone else. do you try a specialist ins broker or just go with comparison sites? if not try a land rover specialist ins broker.

is this a wind up?i had a brand new defender whilst subbing out last year & ended up on the sick for 5 weeks with a bad back caused by the tortuous driving position.Ive just finished for the day & driven home in a big ,heated leather recliner - attatched to a Landcruiser of course

You got a bad back through working not driving. You need to strengthen it up a bit before taking on any further manual labor.

Jeez

Blaming it on a car seat, whatever next?

Quite funny this, as when I broke my back and was fitted with a boston brace the landy seat was the only one I could get comfortable in. My consultant said, that in medical terms a seat that holds your spine straight and with a flat base was the best posture possible from a vehicle. Good ole landys eh:thumbup:

on the subject of back ache and seats , My landy Disco 200tdi has the most comfy seats , they are better than my 50K Nissan. loads of people who have sat in them have said how good they are for posture and on long trips they are fab.

and as for insurance if it is a commercial landy i highly recommend CVD insurance.

I'd agree with that - the pre TD5 Discoveries are a really nice place to spend a day driving. Really miss my old 3.9
