Would like to check a sidewinder out but I just feel like im going to break it too soon.. Plus I cant justify buying a whole package when I already have a cinch and can splice too.

I recently purchased a gri gri as a lanyard positioner and I think it's great. At first I was concerned that maybe you can't lengthen under load. But after testing I've found you can. Also it seems a lot easier to operate using the thumb to twist it to release, far easier than the kinch. I use a thimble which stays on the carabiner end for choking off and two pretzel ds, seems a good setup for now. Spliced lanyard at both ends is a real must to eliminate the ol stuck fishermans crotch disaster!

Has anyone tried a scuba diving clip this could work quite well at keeping the lanyard tidy? It's plastic but at £3 a pop...:001_smile:

Sorry confused here, why do you guys have rope grabs, positioners, cinch etc then a extra prussik? Please explain?

And joe logs what is that knot you have got to shorten it? I have a 6m strop and sick of it dangling around with daisy chain

I haven't tried it myself, but I believe it is so you can choke it round stem by clipping carabiner into thimvle on prussik, then use it single line therefore doubling effective length of lanyard (if this is wrong please correct me someone!)

Still using the old ART rope grab? How long you had that one and was it from new and the twist version?

Have had mine bout 5 or 6 years now, I keep looking at the new ones but there's nowt wrong with my old one,it's like an old mate to me now.

Nice clean set up by the way:thumbup:

A Sidewinder is the solution to the annoying trailing lanyard.

👍
