Fabricating a bracket for holding a ladder as slabbing rail

Just a thought, could you use this ladder attached for every plank you do on the alaskan to avoid curves at the start or the end of the plank? This would give you over hang on either end for more accuracy.

That sounds like a palava, I have a couple of additional X-braces (near the power head) which allows me to 'enter' the cut with the mill @ 45 degrees. If you don't put too much force on the handle it rides in flat as glass.

The bigger the mill the more difficult it is to handle of course, havin a second person helps (safer too).

I like the bracket though, ace :o)

I just bought some ladders and they were the box section type. I did a similar thing but used these.

Drilled two small holes in the side of the ladder at one end and used self tapper to hold ladder in place.

  • 1 year later...

Been trying to get hold of a ladder with an I/H section but not been able to find any, they all seem to be box section to comply with a current standard.....😕

Ideally I'd like a new ladder if the H section is still available so I know they are straight rather than going for S/H.

Has anybody got a link to a supplier of the type that can be used with these brackets?

Cheers,

Rich
