Sorry to hear you got probs Dean, I have recently installed sensors at my farm.

I have a long chase down to the farm, it's just one way in and no way out!! the sign at the top says that.

My timber is stored half way down, but away from the farm house about 200yards, so i have one beam sensor at top of farm chase, and one in yard near workshop.

If the beam is broken the sensor is triggered and sends a radio signal to a reciever, I have two in the house one in my bedroom, and one in my office, where I am most evenings, you can have a belt pager, but thats quite expensive.

This will tell you if you have any body sneaking about, or coming down to your yard with out them knowing, then you can appear out of the darkness to greet them.

Cost for a cheap system is about £200.00 upwards.

http://www.parabeam.co.uk, or just type in to a search engine, farm yard security systems and some should come up.

Good luck hope you catch em

Thats an excellent system BGG thanks for the link.

I am due to move yards shortly, only a 100 yards or so but that will put the new yard about 700m away from the house but more in line of sight as it is slightly higher than the old one

I was looking round for CCTV systems on these lines but CCTV doesn't alert you, your system does, excellent.

I heard of a similar story a few years back a local farmer did exactly the same thing but the only problem been he never told his wife - 1 night the fireplace exploded:001_tt2:

Here's a copy of email just received from a new customer. I'm nearly out of seasoned

wood and made it clear to her. It's all going out loose at £120 for 2 cube. Shows how desperate people are and it seems to be getting worse.

"Thanks for getting back to me. We would be grateful for whatever you can supply us with. If you did have at least some seasoned we could have we would be very grateful and then perhaps a trailer load of recently cut stuff (sort of sept/oct so it would be right for next autumn?)that we could season ourselves for next year? yes, also interested in the locally cut rings too. could i perhpas get my hubby to call you tomorrow? his name is james so you know who he is when he calls! if you had enough capacity for one more regular customer we would be good customers : )
