Back in February they brought in some tougher tests inc towbar and electrics, rubber gaiters in good condition on ball joints and catalytic exhaust must be fitted if it says so on the screen.

I believe the towbar electrics test only apply to 13(?) pin sockets. The only requirement for 7 pin set ups is that they are securely attached. :001_smile:

Harry,

You might try to use it without the cat, took the cat off my Disco a couple of years ago, improved performance and passed MOT no problems. Call me for details.

I think all the discos benefit from no cat because its a fairly large turbo to spin up and its not variable vane like the newer engines. Old worn out faulty clogged up emission control devices cause more pollution than none at all. Although the owner is supposed to maintain them :001_smile:

Thanks guys. I have ordered a bit of bendy pipe to put between the two sections and will prob put new exhaust on for mot, then take it back off after. Might fail on emissions otherwise.

I have toyed with the idea of a sump guard bit a length of steel down the exhaust sounds like an easier option.

Typically mine was the only one to go in my village but they seemed to have had a good night as when I phone tyre and exhaust place in next town they said they have had 5 phone calls from the next village wanting new cats and exhaust.

There ahould be no problems at all with MOT and emmissions.

They have to test that all the contacts work now. The last MoT my truck went for in April they had to test this and have to for any vehicle with towbar and electrics

Seven pin sockets is a visual inspection only twelve pin sockets should be electrically tested.
