The only thing that puts me off the new generation of husky saws is that according to my dealer every time there is a fault and need to be plugged in to have the software adjusted its going to cost £50 for the privilege.Im sure people will get round this.

You could easily shoot that argument down though, firstly, it would only be the case if they went wrong out of warranty, also, I would imagine its a sign of the times as the white clan will sonn be following:sneaky2:

I'm in no way biassed one way or the other, but I think at the moment, as a result of the ever tightening of emissions regs being imposed on the manufacturers, Stihl just haven't quite got it as right as husky with regard to turning out saws that are better, yet within the peramiters set down.

All stihl gear is and will have the micro chip tech as well its a matter of time...I think stihl have lost there german teutonical Vorst sprung Durch technik mainly I guess down to stihl USA's input being made and designed in the USA corporation side of things I gues they don't care about quality so much any more and probably the mc Donald's school of buisiness of churn it out cheap and fast is applied more than huskys pro division who I'm led to believe are left to make there own desisions and have a very good input on the desighn front from profesionals..... Stihls in house testers are not doing there job the desighn flaws in the 201 can really prove this , weak handle ect and more so stihl on a whole are so arogant they refuse to acknowledge that they is desighn problems as its kept all so hush hush.. I don't particularly feel loyal to any brand in the 90's all my saws where huskys and I changed to stihl but in the last 5 years I have not been impressed with any stihl kit I have brought and nearly all my kit is husky... We all want to use the best tools to make are days easier and more enjoyable and it's not when the kit is not working properly .... but the big white giant needs a kick up the arse and realise it does not have it right any more this new husky climbing saw might just do this but I think the suits will sit on there lourals and declare they are still the market leaders.

Could not agree more! I had one of the first 560 xp and it had teething problems it put me off and it went back to be replaced by a 362 but after reading on here how every body was getting on so well with there's i have got another one and they are a very good saw i just hope Stihl can keep up with Husqvarna.

Our dealer seems to look after the pro users pretty well - I've not yet needed to take the 550 in but I'd be very surprised if the bill was £50 each time just to plug in and tweak. Plus, dealer knows we're all tight as it is and would just go back to old saws :001_smile:
