hello there

the 395 as a rim sprocket that will be held in place by a circlip on the end of the crankshaft all you need is to change this

hope this helps albert

if at first you dont succeed sod it and put the kettle on!

stuff some string into the piston then using a srew driver as a drift, place the screw driver on the indents on the clutch and give it a few sharp blows with a mallet untill it spins of. Can't remember whether the 395 can be undone with a socket or not.

it looks like it can be as the spanner thingy fits on the middle? tried using a stihl piston stop and turning this but had no joy. i thought the stihl one might be different but thought id give it ago anyway :blushing:

One important thing - the clutch is a left hand thread so turn the clutch CLOCKWISE to un do it.

These clutches can be really tight so use a decent size wrench and a flat ended decent socket - I tend to use impact ones with the end ground flat on the toughies:thumbup:

There is no circlip on a 395 thats on a372 . You will have to knock it off with the spanner that fits . L.H. thread . usually compression is enough . Make sure de comp is pushed out not in , sharp tap with a mallet on end of spanner and it will spin off .

take the spark plug out, look down the spark plug hole and turn the clutch until you see that the piston is on it's way back up (important) put a length of nylon cord down the spark plug hole to fill the piston pot and stop the piston from moving, now get a hammer and large flathead screwdriver and hit the clutch shoe in the direction marked "off" (stamped on the clutch shoe).it should now have loosened enough to unscrew it by hand and take off.

another way to do it would be to remove the starter chord casing, you will see a bolt in the center, use a ring or closed end spanner or maybe a socket set to hold that tight with your foot with the saw on the floor (or get someone else to hold it tight) and knock the clutch off with a hammer and flathead screwdriver in the same way as before. hope this helps you
